The approximate radial wave functions for excited states
corresponding to power-law potentials are constructed in the
framework of a variational method with the help of a new
minimization procedure for an integral discrepancy. The detailed
graphical verification of approximate wave functions is fulfilled
by means of local discrepancy. The approximate energy eigenvalues
are in good agreement with exact numerical results.
