Current situation with diamond detectors for particle physics applications is briefly described.
Most important issues defining detector quality are enlisted. Improvement of detector quality due to
thermobaric processing of initial diamond is described. Three samples of synthetic monocrystalline diamond
detectors are described, one of them demonstrating unusual avalanche-like behavior.
